Stephanie McLain, MA
Marriage & Family Therapist- Associate
Our relationships shape who we are and who we are becoming. This is perhaps no more true than on our parenting journey. The transition into parenting is one of the most uniquely beautiful and challenging adventures of our lives. The stories we carry with us from our own family histories inform our beliefs about ourselves, the world, relationships, and parenting.
So many of us are wading these deep waters and feeling overwhelmed, under-supported, unseen, and unsure.
Therapy is a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgemental space to begin safely unpacking our stories and choosing how we will author our lives.
What to Expect
I approach therapy from an Attachment-focused and trauma-informed lens-- enhanced by interpersonal neurobiology, or how our relationships shape our nervous system and perceptions of Self, others, and the world. I work most symbiotically with clients capable of insight and verbal processing, open to mind-body approaches, and who are invested in creating change for themselves and their lives.
I utilize a gentle combination of a directive and psychoeducational approach with empathic attunement and the belief that you are the expert on your life.
